PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a field light emitting device having organic polymer as a base body on a substrate by depositing a layer made of a material having a PPV precursor and a photoacid generator on the substrate. SOLUTION: A positive electrode for a device is typically formed on a substrate. Then, a layer made of a material having a PPV(poly-p-phenylene vinylene) precursor and a photoacid generator is deposited on the substrate. The PPV precursor is converted into PPV by the existence of acid, and the photoacid generator generates acid by being irradiated with electromagnetic rays. A layer part not planned to include a field light emitting element is masked. Then, electromagnetic rays are projected to an unmasked part and, by eliminating all non-reacted PPV precursors, and a plurality of separated patterning PPV elements 108 are formed on the substrate. Then, an electron transmitting layer is deposited on the PPV element 108 and, by depositing a negative electrode on the top surface of the electron transmitting layer, an array 100 is formed.
