PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject medicine stable against oxidation, excellent in absorbability to animal cells, capable of efficiently increasing accumulative amounts in cells and useful for treating cancers. SOLUTION: This cancer treating medicine is obtained by compounding an Lascorbic acid derivative, for example, L-ascorbic acid-2-phosphoric acid-6- palmitic acid in an amount of 0.01-100 wt.% as an active ingredient, herein when animal cells are cultured in a medium which contains the ascorbic acid derivative for 20 hr, same level of intracellular accumulation of ascorbic acid is attained with a concentration of <=5μmol n medium as that with a concentration of 50μmol of magnesium L-ascorbic acid-2-phosphate. A daily dose for an adult per kg-body weight is 0.001-8500 mg, preferably 1-100 mg in the case of oral administration, or a suppository or an external preparation, and 0.025-200 mg, preferably 0.25-100 mg in the case of intravenous injection or dropping infusion. The derivative is stable since it has an ester or ether bond at the second position, and it has lipophilicity and a high cell membrane permeability since it has a hydrophobic group at the 5th or 6th position.
