PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder comprising a heating means having a high heating efficiency capable of sufficiently improving image quality with a little consumption power. SOLUTION: This ink jet recorder forms an image by ejecting recording liquid drops on a recording medium by using a recording head that ejects the recording liquid drops from an ejection nozzle. It comprises a conveying passage for conveying the recording medium and a heating means provided in the conveying passage for heating the recording medium and recording liquid. The heating means possesses a heating element having an emission characteristic of a peak waveform wherein a maximum level of an emissivityεof infrared ray is in a range of 4-10μm.
