PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating liquid hopeful of longer service life and useful in thermal recording materials by using a mixed liquid which is prepared by previously mixing a stabilizer together with a water-soluble resin heated in water. SOLUTION: This coating liquid is obtained by the following procedure: (A) a water-soluble resin (pref. a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin), (B) a compound of formula I (R1 is a 8-20C alkyl, 6-20C aryl or the like; M is an alkali metal, ammonium or the like) and/or a compound of formula II [R2 is a 8-20C alkyl, 6-20C aryl or the like; R3 is H or PR4O(OM) (R4 is OH or the like; M is H, an alkali metal or the like); (n) is an integer of 1-15] and (C) water are mixed with one another under heating pref. at 80-100 deg.C to form an aqueous solution of the water-soluble resin, which is then mixed with (D) a solid or liquid component; wherein it is preferable that the content of the component B on a solid basis is 0.01-10 wt.% based on the component A. |
