PURPOSE: A method for retrieving an UCC image and an apparatus thereof are provided to retrieve a desirable original image through a website and the Internet by using an ROI(Region Of Interest) of a UCC image downloaded through the website and the Internet or stored in a mobile communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: A text query input and search unit(11) searches a candidate image corresponding to a query, and an ROI designating unit(19) designates an ROI in the searched candidate images received from an UCC image search server, and converts the ROI into a descriptor. A transmitting unit(13) transmits the query and the descriptor to the UCC image search server. A reception and control unit(15) receives and controls the search candidate images and the ROI images corresponding to the descriptor. A display unit(17) outputs the candidate images and the ROI images.
