PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display system which smoothly and continuously displays diversified images. SOLUTION: While the expanded image is displayed in a display element 107, the image data to be displayed next is expanded 205 in a main expanded image memory section 103 of a RAM 15. When the expansion processing ends earlier than the display time of the previous image data, the image data of a lager processing load is expanded in a sub-expanded image memory section 104 of the RAM 15 before the display end time. The image of the large processing load is divided little by little and is expanded in the sub-expanded image memory section 104 of the RAM 15 by repeating such processing. As a result, the image data of the large processing load is dividedly expanded by utilizing the expansion idle time by the image data of the small processing load, by which even the image data of the large processing load can be displayed without the time for waiting.
