PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval method which is capable of presenting information according with viewer residence area information to a viewer without exceeding the maximum number of digits of a binary table. SOLUTION: The information retrieval method has: an information A acquisition step (S102) of acquiring pertinent information A from a binary table T1 showing a relation among a prefectural area code, area information, and information C associated with prefectural area information and the area information, on the basis of the prefectural area code registered in a receiver; and an information C acquisition step (S104) of acquiring information C from the binary table T1 on the basis of area information B coinciding with a character string indicative of an address of the viewer, which is registered in the receiver, as a result of collation between area information of the information A and the character string indicative of the address of the viewer.
