PURPOSE: An automatic turn-on apparatus of a wireless LAN modem and a method thereof in a terminal supporting a dual mode are provided to reduce power consumption by automatically turning on a WLAN modem of a terminal. CONSTITUTION: A terminal(130) senses entry in a region constituting home network to a base station and a wireless local area network access point. A femto identifier received from the base station determines whether the terminal is included in a connectable femto list. It determines whether the received femto identifier is registered in the wireless LAN turn on list. A controller controls the wireless LAN modem.
