<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method for producing a resin grinding pad having a U-shaped or a square U-shaped groove thereon, wherein a ratio of a resin surface that is brought into contact with a grinding object, to an abrasive when a ground surface of the pad is worn during a grinding work, fluctuates only in a narrow range, to thereby produce the resin grinding pad that contributes to stable grinding, and also to provide a groove-machining method of the resin grinding pad. <P>SOLUTION: The producing method of the resin grinding pad includes a groove-machining step of forming grooves for holding the abrasive in the surface of the pad 16. The groove-machining step is carried out by applying laser beams LB to the surface via a condenser 10 and an internal mirror 12. The groove has a depth of 0.3 to 3 mm that is equal to 70% or less the thickness of the grinding pad, and has a U-shaped or a square U-shaped cross section. According to the method, a focus of the laser beams LB having passed through the condenser 10 is set at a location of an incident light port of the internal mirror 12, and the laser beams LB interfere with each other in the internal mirror due to multiple reflection to form a bright portion and a dark portion at a groove-machining location, to thereby achieve groove machining at the bright portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
