DISK DISCRIMINATION METHOD AND OPTICAL DISK DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which determines successfully the number of information layers of a multilayer disk and an optical disk device using it.

SOLUTION: A process for distinguishing the number of layers of a disk is carried out by setting at least two kinds of spherical aberration compensation amounts and performing focus search.
