<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change type optical recording medium which has a high density/a large capacity about the same as those of DVD-ROM, which not only facilitates initial crystallization in an initialization process, but also enables overwriting at a wide range of recording linear velocity including a high recording linear velocity of 3.5 to 35 m/s, and besides which can ensure a sufficient degree of modulation and excels in recording sensitivity, overwriting characteristics and storage characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The phase change type optical recording medium has a recording layer constituted at least of a phase change type recording material on a substrate and performs at least one of recording, reproduction, erasure and rewriting of information by exposing the layer to electromagnetic waves to induce a reversible phase change. The medium is shown by composition formula In<SB>α</SB>Sb<SB>β</SB>V<SB>γ</SB>I<SB>σ</SB>(wherein α, β, γ, σ are numbers expressed by atom% and 5≤α≤34, 50≤β≤87, 2≤γ≤10, 1≤σ≤5, while α+β+γ+σ=100). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
