PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus by which high image quality processing can be performed by enabling expansion of color processing space to be used for color processing, and to enable the use of the expanded color space in executing color processing by deciding the color value of pixel to be interpolated when the color processing space is expanded and the image is enlarged. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus using a plurality of page description languages is provided with a means for expanding the color processing space in print data, a means for calculating the numbers of interpolation pixels using image data enlarging processing, a bit expansion means for expanding the color value of the input image data according to the color processing expanded by the color processing space expansion means, an interpolation pixel color value deciding means for calculating the color value expanded by the bit expansion means and the color value of the pixel interpolated according to the expanded space to decide stepwise, an image expansion means for interpolating the pixel obtained by the interpolation pixel color value deciding means to enlarge the image data, a means for creating a raster image held as a bit map image from the enlarged image data, and a means for executing color processing using the color processed space decided by the color processing space expansion means.
