A flat display device and a method for driving the same are provided to prevent the deterioration of a thin film transistor due to stress generated when a conductive substrate is bent, by forming a system controller for applying a back bias voltage to the conductive substrate. At least one thin film transistor(102) is formed on a conductive substrate(100). One or more insulating layers(110,120,130) are formed on the conductive substrate. A substrate exposure part(101) exposes a portion of the substrate by removing at least one of the insulating layers. A system controller(180) is connected to the substrate exposure part, wherein the system controller applies a back bias voltage to the conductive substrate.
