The invention relates to a plug (1) for electrically connecting an ignition device of a headlight for vehicles. Said plug comprises a housing in which at least one contact carrier (7) for receiving at least two electrical contacts (9) and a plurality of electrically conducting screening elements (31) are disposed which are connected to at least one side of the housing in an electrically conducting manner. The sides of the housing are connected in an electrically conducting manner to a screening sheath of a cable (2) following the plug. Means (24, 28, 29) are provided in the area of at least one side for locking and/or unlocking the plug on a counter-plug to be linked therewith in such a manner that it can be visually perceived whether the plug is in the locked or unlocked position.
