PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device for polishing a shaft-like member in which shape worsening and roughness variation in a finishing surface on the outer peripheral surface of the shaft-like member can be suppressed, and labor work and time in process change-over can be saved.SOLUTION: A holding device comprises: a holding jig 21 which holds a shaft-like member that is an article to be polished; a linear guide 14 which holds the holding jig 21 as slidable in a first direction; a movable stopper 15 which slides linked with sliding of the holding jig 21 in the first direction; a constant load spring 16 the tip of which is coupled with the movable stopper 15 and which applies a first constant reactive force to the holding jig 21 against the sliding of the holding jig 21 in the first direction; a linear guide 18 which holds the holding jig 21 as slidable in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction; a movable stopper 19 which slides linked with sliding of the holding jig 21 in the second direction; and a constant load spring 20 the tip of which is coupled with the movable stopper 19 and which applies a second constant reactive force to the holding jig 21 against the sliding of the holding jig 21 in the second direction. |
