The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for processing signals in a communications system wherein complex signals of a communications system which is represented by a rectangular coordinate which is converted into a polar coordinate for the communications system which has low complexity, short processing time, relatively low signal distortion and high versatility, and an effective portion can be reduced by truncation of a converted value, compressed, and then transmitted. The method for processing signals in a communications system includes: a step of transmitting target signals from a transmitter; and a step of receiving the target signal by a receiver.
