The relay (10) comprises an electromagnet, an armature (18), and a damping element (32) attached to the electromagnet for reducing the kinetic energy generated during the movement of armature from open position to closed position. The damping element is designed such that the armature first impinges on the damping element, to deform the damping element, during movement from open position to closed position, and the armature and the electromagnet are set in contact with each other in the closed position. An independent claim is included for a manufacturing method of relay.
