<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally-assisted magnetic recording head and bonded structure of a slider with a waveguide and sub-mount for attaining high-efficiency optical coupling and floating characteristics, while restraining the thermal effects of a semiconductor laser. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic head and slider having the optical waveguide and a near-field element, a semiconductor laser, and the sub-mount implementing a mirror placed on one edge in the resonant direction of the semiconductor laser for reflecting the laser in the direction intersecting the resonance direction is fixed by the first and second adhesives. In this case, at least a part of the first and second adhesives is placed, at a position facing the semiconductor laser while sandwiching the sub-mount, and the first adhesive with a Young's modulus larger than that of the second adhesive placed at an outflow end of the slider with a solder joint is placed at an inflow end of the slider. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
