PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit which enables further improvement of communication performance, and to provide a luminaire.SOLUTION: A light source unit 10 includes: a light source part 1; a wireless communication part 2 which performs wireless communication; and a holder 3 which holds the light source part 1 and the wireless communication part 2. The holder 3 has: a support member 4 made of a metallic material and supporting the light source part 1; and a cover member 5 which is attached to the support member 4 and forms a space 10aa therein so as to cover the support member 4. The wireless communication part 2 includes an antenna part 2a and a communication circuit part 2b. The cover member 5 is configured to transmit radio waves with a resin material. The antenna part 2a is disposed in the space 10aa formed by the cover member 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
