Apparatus for producing cement clinker has a pivoting butterfly valve (33) regulating the rotating furnace waste gas and thus the oxygen content of the waste gas arranged in a pre-calcination stage in the waste gas channel (15) above a deNOx combustion site (19) of an inlet before the junction of the tertiary air stream. The valve lies with its pivoting region in the flow direction of the waste gas. The valve hinge (34) is arranged on the lower side of the valve so that the laminar characteristics of the waste gas stream are maintained at all pivoting positions of the valve. Preferred Features: The valve is formed as a hollow body through which a cooling medium can flow. The valve is arranged in the gusset region on the seam between the waste gas channel and the tertiary air line (17).
