FIELD: bast-fiber manufacture. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing stems; providing breaking and scotching; before scotching procedure, dividing treated bast-fibers into portions; reducing angular disorientation and elongation of stems in each of said portions; subjecting stems in each of said portions to flexure combined with partial bending along the length of stems in direction extending from one end of stem to another end. ^ EFFECT: increased yield of bast-fibers due to improved preparing of stem layer for scotching procedure.
