PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel speed detecting apparatus capable of achieving compactness in size and reliability in the apparatus. SOLUTION: A threshold value V<SB>th</SB>of a comparator for converting a sine wave output signal S<SB>p</SB>of a wheel speed sensor 100 into a binarized wheel speed signal S<SB>b</SB>is controlled through the use of a digital filter in such a way as to continuously increase according to a time period during which the sine wave output signal S<SB>p</SB>exceeds the threshold value V<SB>th</SB>and continuously decrease according to a time period during which the sine wave output signal S<SB>p</SB>is less than the threshold value V<SB>th</SB>.
