PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that the formation of compact and inexpensive timepieces is impeded since a liquid crystal driver circuit is required in a timepiece for displaying high-definition images and costs are raised due to the complication of panel production by the formation of high-definition panels in the case of using a liquid crystal panel capable of storing images in the back surface of hands of a timepiece without using electric power and that the hands of a timepiece form shadows on a liquid crystal panel to make it impossible to sufficiently write in the liquid crystal panel at the parts of the shadows in the case of using an optical writing type liquid crystal panel as a dial. SOLUTION: This timepiece uses an optical writing type liquid crystal panel, as a liquid crystal panel, in which display contents are rewritten by the irradiation of light and moves its hour and minute hands at the irradiation of light to the liquid crystal panel for rewriting the display contents of the liquid crystal panel.
