PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat transfer pipe for a heat exchanger capable of reducing the difference in heat transfer rates in the circumferential direction while promoting heat transfer by increasing a flow rate near a wall face, equalizing a temperature distribution in the circumferential direction of a heat transfer pipe, and preventing the attachment of solid components such as soot and the like in an exhaust gas. SOLUTION: In this heat transfer pipe for the heat exchanger, circumferential equal-division type partial elliptic projections projecting to an inner face side at equal intervals on an inner periphery of the heat transfer pipe are arranged in the axial direction of the heat transfer pipe at equal intervals, the partial elliptic projections adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction are shifted from each other at an interval corresponding to a half of an axial interval, and their shapes to an axis have the same direction and the same angle when being rotated to the circumferential equally-divided position.
