PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a process by which a biodiesel fuel of a fatty acid alkyl ester satisfying the biodiesel fuel specifications is easily and quickly manufactured from fats and oils such as vegetable oils and animal oils. SOLUTION: The biodiesel fuel manufacturing apparatus has an ester exchange reaction unit to obtain reaction products by mixing fats and oils with a catalyst-containing alcohol solutio, a vacuum distillation unit to obtain a residual liquid by removing low boilers from the reaction products by vacuum distillation, a separation unit to separate the residual liquid into a light liquid and a heavy liquid and a refining unit to refine the light liquid by bringing it in contact with a solid adsorbent.
