An interface control unit (200) built in an information processing unit to which the EEPROM (150) is connected via a MicroWire (210) for controlling data read/write processing from/to the external recording medium. The interface control unit (200) includes a controller section (132) which stores control commands for instructing settings of read/write processing from/to the EEPROM (150) and an I/F section (131) which reads a control command designated by a CPU (110) from the controller section (132) to execute read/write processing from/to the EEPROM (150) in accordance with the readout control command settings.
