<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the number of pieces of back yokes, where alternating magnetic fields are generated, from increasing, while reducing thrusting force by providing stators on both sides along the rotating shaft of a rotor. <P>SOLUTION: An axial-gap type rotary-electric machine is equipped with the rotor 1, an armature 2, and the stator 3. The rotor 1 is a magnetic substance which can rotate in its circumferential direction around the rotating shaft Q. The armature 2 has an armature coil 22 which faces the rotor from one side in the direction of the rotating shaft, parallel with the rotating shaft.
