PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of detecting a width and/or a position in a medium width direction of a printing medium with a simple configuration without mounting a detection section to a carriage.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: a medium feed section 11 feeding a printing medium in a medium feed direction; an inclination correction section 13 having an alignment plate 41 abutting a leading end of the printing medium fed thereon and correcting an inclination of the printing medium against the medium feed direction; a plurality of alignment detectors 43 being arranged so as to face the alignment plate 41 and detecting the leading end of the printing medium abutted at each position in the medium width direction; a correction determination section 51 determining whether or not inclination correction is normally performed on the basis of detection results of the plurality of alignment detectors 43; and a medium determination section 52 determining a width and a position in the medium width direction of the printing medium on the basis of the detection results of the plurality of alignment detectors 43.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
