A method of establishing a communication link 6 between a first device 2 and a second device 4. The first device 2 sends a link request containing a unique identifier to a server 8. The server 8 sends the first device 2 a media content clip allocated against the unique identifier. The first device 2 plays out the media clip over a speaker 20 in the vicinity of the second device 4 which receives it with its microphone 26 and detects a media identifier. The second device 4 sends the media identifier and its own unique identifier to the server 8. The server 8 matches the media identifier to the allocated media content and recalls the first devices unique identifier. The server 8 forwards each devices unique identifier to the other such that a communication link 6 may be established. The media content may be audio or video with a watermark or fingerprint. The unique identifier may be a device identifier or an authentication token. |
