This invention relates to a member made of a fiber-reinforced resin comprising a solid or hollow bar (2) formed of a fiber-reinforced resin material (5,6), a soft metallic layer (3) formed around an outer periphery of the bar by constricting a soft metal around said periphery to bring the metal into a tight contact with said bar by pressing, and a hard plating layer (4) formed on the surface of said soft metallic layer. The invention also relates to a method for the production thereof.
