<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving technology capable of optimizing the duty ratio of drive signals or the like and highly accurately and stably performing high-speed phase modulation for an optical modulator of a phase modulation format. <P>SOLUTION: A driving apparatus 3 supplies a drive signal to the optical modulator 2 of the phase modulation format, branches a part of output light from the optical modulator 2, extracts some optical component of the branched light, which is distant from a carrier frequency by integral multiple of a modulation frequency, to detect the power, and feedback controls the duty ratio of the drive signal or a cross-point level so that the power approaches a minimum value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
