<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine reducing electric power consumption for operating a high pressure fuel pump supplying fuel to a delivery pipe and extending the lifetime of the high-pressure fuel pump. <P>SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine 100 includes two high-pressure fuel pumps 4 supplying fuel Fu to the delivery pipe 2.
