PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent colors from mixing and dots from being omitted by preventing ink from scattering to a nozzle plate when the interior of a cap is opened to the air after the ink is sucked. SOLUTION: An air introduction opening 8d communicating with an internal space of a capping device 13 in a state with a nozzle plate 8a of a recording head 8 sealed is arranged to the nozzle plate 8a of the recording head 8. When the capping device 13 is opened to the air via the air introduction opening 8d by opening a valve unit 21, the ink, for example, bubble-like ink remaining in the capping device can be prevented from scattering to the nozzle plate 8a of the recording head 8. The problem of printing failures, e.g. mixing of colors, omission of dots or the like because of the scattering or adhesion of the bubble-like ink to a nozzle opening can be avoided, whereby the ink-jet type recording apparatus with a high reliability is provided. |
