PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve working efficiency and productivity by reducing time loss due to stopping a conveyed plate glass at a machining position as much as possible. SOLUTION: A machining table 3 is reciprocated between a carry-in area E1 on the upstream side and a carry-out area E2 on the downstream side of the plate glass G, and when the machining table is positioned in the carry-in area E1, a fluid layer 3b formed on the machining table 3 with injection of the fluid floats the plate glass G in the horizontal attitude and transfers it onto the machining table 3. Thereafter, during the time till the machining table 3 is moved from the carry-in area E1 to the carry-out area E2, the fluid layer 3b on the machining table 3 is practically eliminated, and machining is performed to the plate glass G. Thereafter, the fluid is injected again onto the machining table 3 to form the fluid layer 3b, and the fluid layer 3b floats the plate glass G in the horizontal attitude, and carries out the plate glass G from the machining table 3 in the carry-out area E2.
