PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device of BBW type capable of precluding worsening of the pedal feeling when ABS is actuated. SOLUTION: At the normal time when braking force generating means 19F and 19R are able to work, the wheels can be braked by the means 19F and 19R in the condition that a stamping force shutoff valve 18 is closed to shut off the communication between a master cylinder 10 and wheel cylinders 13 and 14. Because at that time, a reaction force admitting valve 30 is opened to generate communication between the master cylinder 10 and a stroke simulator 25, the brake feeling can be secured while the brake pedal 1 makes strokes in receiving the reaction force. Actuation of the ABS at a normal time closes the reaction force admitting valve 30 and puts the stroke simulator 25 out of function to be actuated, which precludes occurrence of the situation that the pedal stoke 11 increases while the braking force decreases owing to the ABS control, and it is possible to eliminate the driver having a sense of incongruity.
