FIELD: cells for multicolor display, in which electrowetting effect is used for color control. ^ SUBSTANCE: the cell contains a hollow with current-conductive and non-current-conductive liquids and separate electrodes in current-conductive liquid. The cell hollow is made in form of closed circular contour, comprising a cell screen. On a part of its surface, the hollow has hydrophobic cover with separate electrodes below it. In initial position of liquids when voltage is absent, part of contour channel with hydrophobic cover is filled with non-current-conductive liquid, which contains color carriers in form of transparent color balls, density of which equals the density of the liquid. Identically colored balls are combined in sections, one of which in absence of voltage is positioned below the screen. Electrodes of hydrophobic cover and ball section have equal length. ^ EFFECT: increased quality of image due to full and accurate division of colors and due to usage of whole cell area for reproduction of one color. ^ 4 dwg |
