A chair backrest angle adjustment device is provided to adjust the tilt or slope of the backrest of a chair in a gradual manner simply by pulling a level mounted at one side of a seat. A chair backrest angle adjustment device includes a first bracket(30) having a circular axial hole to which a polygonal axis(32) is rotatably coupled; a guide piece(40) fixed to the front face of the first bracket and having a guide groove(40a) into which a stop piece(41) is inserted and supported by a spring(42); a second bracket(50) which is fixed to one side of a backrest frame with a polygonal axial hole(51) being coupled to the polygonal axis, and which has a plurality of stop projections(50a) formed at a circumference thereof to be coupled to a stop groove of the stop piece; and a lever(70) which has a handle(72) formed at a rear side thereof and which is connected to a cover piece through a pin(73) in a rotatable manner.
