<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar lighting system capable of carrying out area control for adjusting the luminance of a light-irradiating face for any area or line control for adjusting along any line. <P>SOLUTION: The planar lighting system is provided with a light guide plate having a light-irradiating face, two pairs of light-incident faces formed at four end sides of the light-irradiating face, and a rear face formed at the opposite side of the light-irradiating face and slanted so as to have its thickness in a direction vertical to the light-irradiating face gradually thickened toward a center, and a pair of main light sources and a pair of sub light sources arranged in opposition to each of the light-incident faces of the light guide plate for emitting light to each of the light-incident faces. The system is further provided with a luminance distribution control means for forming specified local luminance distribution at any position of the light-irradiating faces of the light guide plate by adjusting a light volume irradiated by each of the main light sources and each of the sub light sources. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
