PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge device suppressing deformation such as unintended warpage of a medium such as recording paper and being capable of improving impact position accuracy of liquid.SOLUTION: A liquid discharge device comprises tension application mechanisms 17 applying tension to recording paper S by pressing the recording paper S to a platen 7 side. The tension application mechanisms 17 are provided to at least one of an upstream side and a downstream side of a transportation direction of the recording paper S with respect to a recording head. A platen 7 has grooves 16 extending in the transportation direction at positions facing the tension application mechanisms 17 in a placing surface of the recording paper. When the recording paper S is pressed by the tension application mechanisms 17, portions pressed enter closer to insides of the grooves 16 than the placing surface, and deformation such as unintended warpage of the recording paper S is suppressed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
