PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a batch-type denitrification apparatus, a batch tank for denitrification, and a batch-type denitrification method which not only can cope with a fluctuation in ammonia nitrogen load of waste water, but also can stabilize nitrite type nitrification and denitrification.SOLUTION: An apparatus for biologically denitrifying waste water containing ammonia nitrogen includes a batch tank 2 where nitrite bacteria performing nitrite type nitrification and denitrifying bacteria performing denitrification are activated separately in terms of time. When the nitrite bacteria are activated, the batch tank 2 is preferably controlled so that the dissolved oxygen concentration is 1.0 mg/L or more and 2.0 mg/L or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
