PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut a character image including respective characters out of an image of an entry form having the characters entered into a character frame.SOLUTION: A character segmentation device comprises: an input image acquisition part which acquires an input image including only characters; a virtual individual frame position determination part which determines positions of virtual individual frames by scanning the virtual individual frames reproducing character frames on an input image; a line division position determination part which detects line division positions on the basis of pixel information forming the characters on the input image and verifies and determines the detected line division positions on the basis of position information obtained from the determined positions of the virtual individual frames; and a candidate segment determination part which extracts a partial image which may be one character as a basic segment from an image of each line divided at a determined line division position, determines a segment obtained by combining the basic segment and a plurality of basic segments as a candidate segment, and determines a candidate segment to be processed by excluding candidate segments which may be each not one character with high possibility from candidate segments. |
