PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably grip a container by enabling a clamp mechanism and a holding member to integrally oscillate and correcting the directions of the clamp mechanism and the holding member even if the deviation to the container axis is large. SOLUTION: In this lifting device, a frame 21 is erected on a sheath part 20 in which a fork is to be fitted, and a clamp mechanism 40 for gripping the upper part of the container, and a holding member 60 to be brought into contact with the body of the container are provided on the frame 21. In this case, a pair of guide arms 50, 50 are projectingly provided on the clamp mechanism 40 diagonally to the right and left fronts, the clamp mechanism 40 and the holding member 60 are integrally rotatably connected to each other to form an oscillating holding part 30, and the oscillating holding part 30 is so supported as to be oscillated in relation to the frame 21.
