PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of equipment and the maintenance cost by utilizing the motion at arrival and start of an automatic guided vehicle at/from the end part of a conveyor line so as to automatically change over the operating state and the released state of a stopper part provided for preventing an article from falling. SOLUTION: In this transfer device 3 having a conveyor line and an automatic guided vehicle 2 receiving an article W, stopper members 8, 9 are in the hanging state until directly before the lock piece 10 of a stopper member 6 on the vehicle 2 side collides with the boss 9 of the stopper member 8, and respective stopper parts 6a, 8a project upward to prevent the article W from falling. Thereafter when the vehicle 2 advances in the F-direction, the boss 9 and the lock piece 10 interfere with each other to rotate the stopper members 6, 8 around pins 7, 9. When interference of the boss 9 and the lock piece 10 reaches the limit, the vehicle 2 is stopped, the stopper parts 6a, 8a are let to be in a released state lower than conveyors 1, 2a, and hence the article W is transferred.
