PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dot impact printer which can be used for a long term without cleaning off foreign matters, e.g. ink, detrimental to impact force by providing a brush being inserted from at least one opening for exposing a wire to touch and clean the wire. SOLUTION: A print head 1 is disposed oppositely to a print medium 11 on a platen 15 and an ink ribbon 7a, a head wire 1e, and bearings 1c, 1d for holding the wire 1e slidably are provided therein. The print head 1 is advanced toward the platen 15 in response to a print signal and printing is carried out by applying the ribbon 7a impregnated with ink to the medium 11. The wire 1e is exposed from an opening 1b made in the nose part la of the head 1 and a brush 8 is located at a position where the printer head 1 intrudes into the opening 1b at the switch back point of reciprocal motion. When the printer head 1 intrudes into the opening 1b, forward end of the brush scratches the wire 1e to scrape off foreign matters, e.g. ink or paper powder, adhering thereto. |
