PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation of impact noises during contact of cylindrical cargoes with a stopper. SOLUTION: An energy absorber 1 is provided in parallel to a fixed stopper 2 on a movable floor 5 of a cylindrical cargo carrying elevator for preventing the rolling motion of cylindrical cargoes. The energy absorber 1 includes a movable arm 11 having a fulcrum on the movable floor 5 and having one end contacting cylindrical cargoes 9 and the other end rotatably connected to a link 12, the link 12 connecting the movable arm 11 to a slider 13, the slider 13 connected to the link 12 and capable of relative sliding motion on the movable floor 5 and a shock absorber 15 mounted on the movable floor 5 for allowing relative sliding motion of the slider 13 on the movable floor 5 with the engagement of the tip of a piston rod 151 with the slider 13.
