PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the frictional resistance to improve the fuel consumption by providing a plurality of vertically arranged cylinder train pairs, and connecting the pistons of the cylinders of each pair through one slider connecting shaft, and transmitting the movement of the slider connecting shaft to a crankshaft through an arm and a link. SOLUTION: A plurality of vertically arranged cylinder pairs 1, 2; 3, 4 is provided, and the pistons 8, 8 of the cylinder pairs 1, 2; 3, 4 are mutually connected through one slider connecting shaft 9. When air is sucked through the intake valve 6 of the cylinder 1, compression, explosion and exhaust are performed in the cylinder 2, the cylinder 3 and the cylinder 4, respectively, to reciprocate each slider connecting shaft 9. The movement of the slider connecting shaft 9 is transmitted to a crankshaft 12 through an arm 10 and a link 11, and the crankshaft 12 is rotated to take out a power. According to such a structure, the manufacturing cost can be reduced by the reduction in the number of links and the simplification of the crankshaft. Further, the frictional resistance can be reduced to improve the fuel consumption.
