PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deposition of scum by arranging a water receiving section below an opening of a discharge pipe so as to be spaced away from the opening, and allowing a part of sewage drawn up by a pump to fall from the opening to the water receiving portion. SOLUTION: When sewage flows from a sewage inflow pipe 5 into a manhole 10 and the water level of the sewage reaches a pump activation level W1, a control device detects a signal from a float-type water gauge 22, to thereby activate an underwater pump 11. The sewage sucked from a suction port 11a of the pump 11 is squeeze-pumped to a conveying pipe 12 and discharged via an exhaust pipe 15 to the outside. The sewage flowing in the conveying pipe 12 is branched to a water diffusing mechanism A to be introduced to a discharge pipe 30, and then sprayed downward from an opening 31. The sewage collides on a water receiving section 37 and the spraying direction of the sewage is changed to the horizontal direction, whereby the sewage reaches an inner surface of the manhole 10 and the conveying pipe 12. Further, scum present on the inner surface of the manhole 10 and a surface of the conveying pipe 12 is caught up in jet flow, and then sucked into the pump 11 and discharged by the same. Thus, deposition of scam can be prevented.
