PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-priming pump having improved pumping performance and efficiency by reducing a gap between the inner diameter of a mouth portion of a partition plate and the outer diameter of an impeller. SOLUTION: The self-priming pump comprises a first synthetic resin casing 12 having an inlet 16 and an outlet 78, a second synthetic resin casing 14, the partition plate 22 partitioning the first casing 12 from the second casing 14 and having the opened mouth portion 26 in which water is distributed, the impeller 28 arranged in a pump chamber 30 formed in the second casing 14, and a motor 50 for rotating the impeller 28.
