摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the worsening in operability of an internal combustion engine during a time when a variable valve system control device for the internal combustion engine obtains an authorized learned value in a reference valve driven condition. SOLUTION: When a spiral cam is estimated to be at the maximum rotating angleθmax in accordance with an operated condition (YES in S106, S109), a temporary learned value VLp obtained in accordance with a difference between theθmax and a rotating angleθv as a learned value is temporarily set as the minimum valve operating angle learned value VLg (S110, S112). The temporary learned value VLp is set in accordance with a realistic valve driven condition, instead of an initial value or a preset specified value. Thus, if a variable valve system is not set at the minimum valve operating angle, a satisfactory alternative value for the minimum valve operating angle learned value VLg can be set to maintain the operability of the engine.
