PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten starting time of a gateway in a communication system constructed by connecting a plurality networks by the gateway. SOLUTION: In an initialization processing method for a gateway device, a startup routine including processing that performs zero-clearance of a memory area of a computer is executed, and then, zero clearance of a static variable in an application program is omitted or initial value substitution processing other than processing for performing zero clearance of the static variable of the application program is performed to start the application program.
